Embracing change in the ever-changing world of tech

In today’s fast-paced and interconnected world, change has become the new constant. The technology industry is one of the most evident examples of change in the workplace. The ability to adapt, embrace, and even drive change is a crucial skill for individuals and organizations alike. It is important to embrace change in the workplace, specifically within the dynamic landscape of the technology industry.

Change, although often met with resistance and uncertainty, can bring forth innovation and growth, adaptability, and competitive advantage. When you discover an issue within your workplace, be it communication, training, prioritization, etc., you are fully aware that in order to fix the problem, you will need to make a change– they say the definition of insanity is continuing to do the same things and expecting different results. Once we are able to move past the discomfort of making a change, then we will be able to impart real results and have a positive impact on our workplace.

The same is true for your technology needs. In order to grow your company’s security, efficiency, data storage, or meet other technology needs, you have to be willing to lean into change.
Foster a growth mindset– cultivate a mindset that views change as an opportunity for growth and learning. Embrace challenges, seek new experiences, and remain open to new ideas. Embracing a growth mindset enables you to approach change with curiosity and resilience.
Embrace collaboration– seek input from colleagues and teams. By involving others in the change process, you gain different perspectives and insights, fostering a culture of shared ownership and support.

If you are a decision-maker for the technology needs of your company, know that you will need to ask lots of questions and that you will get it wrong sometimes. But you will make more progress asking questions than you would if you decided not to embrace change at all. You absolutely cannot expect a change in outcome without making a change to the work itself. Over the next few years, we will continue to see massive changes in the way everyone interacts with technology (specifically AI), and we need to be diligent in using new technology effectively and safely. But if we resist change, and refuse to use any new technology, all we are going to experience is inefficiency
